Tom D'Alessandro, LICSW

After receiving my master's degree in Social Work from Boston University in 2008 I began working as a therapist. I am certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and I am proficient in the approach of Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapy; two highly effective models of treatment . Helping others through my learning has always been something I have taken great pleasure in, which is why I feel so privileged each and every time I help others overcome obstacles.

I have experience working in various settings (schools, substance abuse clinics, group programs) helping people with issues such as anxiety, depression, substance use/addictions and domestic violence. Most recently my work has taken me into the community where I have helped people struggling with issues such as bipolar disorder, anger management, stress management, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder among others.  I am so humbled with each opportunity to help people work towards making life changing and long lasting improvements that not only influence their lives, but those closest to them.

Goals:

After having worked in the field of health and human services for over 14 years, I have seen unfortunate shortcomings in good, solid, and effective mental health treatment for those in need, which was my inspiration in opening my own private practice.  The goals for the practice are as follows:

  • Tailor treatment approaches to the individuals needs/strengths that allows the most effective means of treatment

  • To be consistent, dependable, warm and supportive through a reciprocal process where therapy is viewed as an equal partnership

  • Utilizing the most up to date data and effective therapeutic approaches with each individual

  • Fostering an environment where people feel safe, comfortable, and open towards being challenged

  • Helping people gain a deeper understanding of self through long or short-term goals
